Jazz dance was developed orginally alongside Jazz music from areas like New Orleans in the USA. It also has its roots in dances originating from Africa, brought over to the Americas with the slave trade. It also borrows elements from Caribean and Latin dancing styles, with influences from Ballet and Contemporary dance – combining this all into a theatrical dancing performance. A fun dancing style which relies upon originality and improvisation. Jazz dancing often uses bold dramatic movements, including body isolations and contractions.
